Bachelor Thesis at aclipp
Bachelor thesis - a topic that no student can avoid. At first, I just had a huge question mark in my head: Where can I write my thesis? What topic do I want to work on? How does this all actually work? Questions that were quickly answered after seeing a story on aclipp's Instagram channel and having a cool conversation with the founders.
Then, at the beginning of 2020, I had my first working day at aclipp, which also marked the start of my bachelor thesis. Before that day, I knew very little about the PR industry or the self-service onboarding of new users - so I was a complete newbie and, like most other students, initially quite overwhelmed 😄
The Beginning is Hard … or?
However, this quickly changed: In the first few days, Raphael, Michael, and Sascha introduced me to both the PR industry and the aclipp software during employee onboarding, giving me a much better idea of my work environment. After that, I was provided with numerous papers and literature sources. This allowed me to build an excellent basic knowledge of my topic, self-service user onboarding.
Soon, I faced the next challenge: How do I structure my thesis, and how do I want to design the practical part? With the aclipp team, this was no problem! In a joint workshop, we developed the exact topic with a clearly structured table of contents and a well-thought-out practical part. My professor was soon convinced, and I could finally get started 🚀
Starting with Turbo Boost
I started with the theoretical part. For this, I was relieved of all my tasks at aclipp for 4 weeks to fully concentrate on it. During this time, I even had the opportunity to conduct an interview with two experts in the field to gather more expert knowledge. Raphael, the CEO of aclipp, arranged the contact for this. I also received active support and additional information from the team in regular updates during this time. Thus, the rather 'boring' theoretical part was completed in no time 💪🏼
Now It's Getting Interesting
After that, I was really looking forward to the practical part. Here I conducted several user tests to test which of the software onboarding methods was best suited for aclipp. My initial goal of at least 20 test subjects was even doubled thanks to the spectacular advertising by the aclipp team among friends and acquaintances. Ultimately, I was able to conduct 40 user tests. This made the results of my bachelor thesis significantly more meaningful and the sample much more representative 👏🏼
In the end, I was able to develop a suitable self-service user onboarding for aclipp from the combination of theoretical basics and findings from the user tests. I then independently implemented this onboarding following the thesis. Today, the onboarding from the bachelor thesis is still in use and helps new aclipp users understand the software's functionality.
Again? Anytime!
Would I write my bachelor thesis at aclipp again? Absolutely, without any 'buts'! During this time, I had all the freedom to design the work exactly as I envisioned it. I was able to put the results directly into practice and had the opportunity to improve the aclipp software. My supervisor Raphael and all other colleagues supported me as best they could, answered all my questions, repeatedly proofread the work, and discussed various alternatives with me. Besides, I was able to learn many other skills outside my bachelor thesis. In summary, it was an experience that I can only recommend, and the fact that I stayed on as a working student and now as a full-time employee speaks for itself 😉
