Social Listening for Your PR

What is Mention?

Mention is a social listening tool. Social listening involves monitoring social networks relevant to your clients for mentions of specific keywords, topics, or competitors. The data collected can then be analyzed further to plan appropriate actions.

With Mention, you can search various social networks for self-defined keywords, ensuring you don't miss anything. As soon as one of the keywords appears on a selected platform, it is listed in the results, and you receive an email/notification. Keywords can be people, brands, or relevant terms, depending on what is important for your clients. You can also monitor mentions of your clients' competitors with Mention. Additionally, you will be informed about mentions in real-time, allowing you to interact with readers.

Mention evaluates the found mentions using four KPIs:

  • Strength: The likelihood that your client is being discussed online
  • Sentiment: The ratio of positive to negative mentions
  • Passion: The likelihood that people who mention your clients will do so repeatedly
  • Reach: The extent of your clients' influence among different users

How can you use Mention for your PR work?

With Mention, you can precisely monitor where your clients are mentioned on various social media platforms. You can report these mentions to your clients to make the success of your work more measurable. Additionally, you can define relevant keywords for your clients, so you can act on their mentions. This offers a similar advantage to Google Alerts: If a topic relevant to your clients becomes highly topical due to an event, it becomes much easier to place articles about your clients through journalists.

For instance, if you are managing a second-hand clothing retailer, media might report on it occasionally, but your client is unlikely to be the story of the day. However, if a new study on the environmental impact of consuming and producing new clothing is released, and an interview request with your client appears in a relevant content creator's inbox, the chances of coverage increase significantly! Thus, with Mention and social listening, you can secure better placements for your clients.

If you are now curious and want to try Mention right away, read here on how to configure the tool perfectly for you and your clients. Additionally, I will introduce you to some other useful functions of Mention.

We wish you lots of fun testing it out!
